A Brush With It Corporate History
Brushing up on a history of more than 2 centuries when the Sissons Brothers from Hull of England founded the company in 1803, Sissons Paints (East) Sdn. Bhd. , as it was known then, was established on Malaysian shores in 1959.
Sissons Paints famous trademark of “two men and a plank” was first introduced in 1910, and had represented the product and its quality ever since.
Throughout its history, Sissons had experienced several acquisitions, beginning with Reckitt & Coleman buying up the company in 1964, and then in turn, sold the company to the Donald Macpherson Group of the UK in 1968.
In 1984, the Macpherson Group was acquired by Tikkkurila Oy, a subsidiary company of Kemira Oy, the largest chemical company, and among the largest companies in Finland, incorporated since 1920. This resulted in Sissons then being associated with Finland’s largest paint manufacturer with affiliations both in Finland and the UK, the Netherlands, Sweden and even Trinidad.
Subsequently, Boustead Holding Berhad, one of the nation’s largest conglomerates, acquired Kemira Sissons Paints Sdn. Bhd. in 1992. To reflect the corporate image, the name was then changed to Boustead Sissons Paints Sdn. Bhd. in mid 1993.
The future now promises to be even brighter and more colourful under the illustrious stable of the Boustead Group of Companies.
